The Vest-Pocket Gems of Devotion 1891, prayer book, Benziger Brothers, smooth leather (I assume) covers, printed in Belgium. This pocket prayer book is in remarkable condition with a smooth, padded leather (I assume) cover that is a pleasure to hold. The smooth surface is unique as most of these vest-pocket books have a rough textured cover. The condition and uniqueness of this little book make it a fine addition to your collection or a gift you can be proud of giving. Book is 4.75" by 2.75" by 0.5" thick. Book is in Very Good condition for its age with some wear on cover edges and corners, age toned pages, a few penciled numbers on pages near the end, and the ribbon marker has worn off such that is reaches the bottom of the pages but does not extend and hang below the pages. Leather cover is smooth and shiny gilt flowers, cross, and title on the cover and spine are still sharp, gilt page edges are more bronze than gold color. Covers and pages are square. Binding is sound, though I would hesitate to crack the book wide open. Please see pictures as they are considered part of the condition description. I take numerous photos of the actual item and describe it as accurately as I can so you don't have to risk your buying decision on stock photos and generic condition descriptions.
