Condition: Near Fine. Copyright Edition. The true First Edition! Two Volume set. Bound with the Series Half Titles but no advertisements. Plain endpapers. Bound in cream colored vellum with gilt spine decorations and leather insets on the spine with the title and Volume numbers in gilt. I have seen this binding described as 'vellum', 'faux vellum' and 'paper vellum'. This copy was once in the collection of The American Academy in Rome and has some minor markings: ink stamps to the title page; Library Blindstamp to title page; discreet pencil Library numbers to the top corner of the front endpaper; small Library catalog numbers and the word 'Stack' in black ink on the upper left corner of the front cover.
