Offered here for your bidding coinsideration is this wonderful antique composition Effanbee Skippy Doll in excellent condition, and wearing his original clothes! Skippy is from the “Patsy Family of Dolls” and stands about 14 1/2” tall. Composition Skippy dolls were made from 1928 to 1943. With his cloth torso, I believe he would be from the earlier pre-war production period. Embossed with EFFANBEE SKIPPY, P. L. CROSBY on the back of his neck, he was made in the likeness of Crosby’s comic strip character. His composition is just beautiful, free from any crazing that I can see! The only wear I observe is a small rub on the top of each ear, as seen in the profile pictures. His original clothing is in very nice condition, too. The shirt is sewn on so I didn’t remove it for photography. I did shift the clothes around so you could see the condition of the clothes and body underneath. I did note what looks like a small mend on his outfit, where the pants meet the attached undershirt, circled on the image in green. There is some yellowing of his white shirt and a couple of tiny, pinpoint brown spots on the front of it. Even the shoes are original! I don’t know about the vintage socks—whether they would have had yellow stripes on the tops, or not. He wears his original EFFANBEE DURABLE DOLLS heart bracelet on his wrist. Not original to him, but utterly charming, is his COMMUNITY CHEST pinback from 1924. If you’re going to own only one Skippy, then let it be one in as gorgeous condition as this fine Skippy doll! In the last picture, I show Skippy with a cowgirl Patsy doll. While not included here, you may wish to see her in a separate listing.
