Early 1900s Sears Roebuck Minerva Knockout Doll - Metal Head - Hair Stuffed. • Maker: Sears, Roebuck & Co. We don’t know for sure. • Line: “Knock-Out” Doll. (The small molded hands are sewn directly into the jacket sleeve cuffs). • Construction: Factory stitched seams consistent with early 20th-century catalog dolls. An antique Sears Roebuck “Knock-Out” doll, dating to approximately circa 1915–1925. This doll features the correct pressed metal (tin/steel) head with molded hair detail and hand-painted facial features, paired with a cloth body. This may be an economy variant, manufactured with an armless cloth body by original design or it may ne the previous owner had not yet added the little arms and seeed them into the jacket cuffs to keep them together. (The small molded hands are sewn directly into the jacket sleeve cuffs). Was this a period-correct cost-saving construction method used by Sears and other mail-order houses? We don’t know for sure.
