Description

SUNDRESS OF VINTAGE COTTON DOTTED SWISS - MADE FOR MADAME ALEXANDER CISSY DOLL. The fabric has nice body, not too stiff or limp.! There was not enough of this for the standard size skirt, so I made it as big as I could. It is just 44" wide instead of the usual 60-72" and has a 1.25" hand stitched hem instead of the usual 2" hem. OOAK outfit made for Madame Alexander Cissy Doll (NO DOLL - clothes only) My sewing experiences started when I was in Jr. High School and carried me through the ages. I made clothes for my children, kept dancers in costumes when I taught Ballet and Tap, Jazz and tumbling for 40 years, and also created many, many Figure Skating costumes for male and female skaters and even some of the Precision Teams while I lived in Alaska. I also made many of the costumes for West High School of Anchorage when the dance group there put on a production of The Nutcracker all Jazzed Up. What a show THAT was...!!! Lori, you outdid yourself on that, girl...!!! I have to say it is much easier sewing for dolls, because they stay the same size and never need a new pattern size. hahaha I've been sewing for Cissy and other dolls for several years now. I use vintage fabrics and laces for most everything I create. I follow the Madame Alexander codes and requirements except for some bodices as I prefer a snug fit. Thank you for your interest in my creations. Today Cissy is modeling a sundress I created from a sweet scrap of dot Swiss cotton fabric in pale pink with cream fuzzy dots. The fabric has nice body, not too stiff or limp...!!! There was not enough of this for the standard size skirt, so I made it as big as I could. It is just 44" wide instead of the usual 60-72" and has a 1.25" hand stitched hem instead of the usual 2" hem. It will not make a total circle, but is quite cute nonetheless. The waist length bodice has a midriff design which I cut on the bias so the dots run up and down instead of at an angle like they normally are. The pattern has over the shoulder sleeves built in. It is lined in cotton and closes with 3 square snaps. I used all of my remaining baby blue tiny rick-rack to trim the dress. I love how Madame used these two colors quite often in her fabrics and trims. The last length of rick-rack was used to decorate the sweet trio of vintage rosebuds at her waist. My tiny "handmade" charm is tacked at the back seam as always. Cissy is posing with a borrowed petticoat. I took many pictures for your viewing. Questions are welcomed. Thanks for looking...!!! This auction will be nicely wrapped and shipped (next day) in a Priority box. My home is smoke and pet free. Thank you again for your interest. Please check out my feedback. Have a lovely day, Donna :)
