I have not tried to launder and it does have an "old Barbie clothes" scent. It is nicely made. This outfit has been carefully curated. It includes: a beautiful vintage dress, a lace slip, a pair of heels, a purse, and a cup for her other hand. This set is designed for an 11.5 inch fashion doll like Barbie. All items are in very good condition, except there are two tiny dots as shown in 2nd to last photo; perhaps where a pin once was, but no holes)? I didn't see it till I put it under the bright lights for photos. I have not tried to launder and it does have an "old Barbie clothes" scent. It is nicely made.
