Vintage Mashiko Ware Studio Pottery Rice Bowls Iron Brown Rim Speckled Clay 8pc. This rice bowl set is in excellent condition, as I don't recall ever using them growing up. They have been wrapped and placed in storage for decades until recently discovered in one of their many tansu (chests). This set of 8 Vintage Mashiko Ware Studio Pottery Rice Bowls are from my mother's estate. My parents lived in Tokyo from 1959-2002 and purchased many Japanese antiques and unique items during that time. All were carefully wrapped and shipped to the US upon retirement. My parents were introduced to Mashiko Village in the early 60s and visited there frequently, always returning with some interesting items, including a number of Shoji Hamada pieces.They likely purchased this set in the 60s or 70s. This rice bowl set is in excellent condition, as I don't recall ever using them growing up. They have been wrapped and placed in storage for decades until recently discovered in one of their many tansu (chests). They measure approximately 4.5" X 2" inches and collectively weigh almost 5 pounds as a group. Currently, I believe this is the only complete, uniform 8-piece set of vintage mid-century Mashiko bowls on eBay. The only other similar sets are from my listings, as my parents purchased a lot of pottery from Mashiko Village. All others on eBay are clearly more modern (cheaper) pieces or consisting of 4 pieces or fewer.
