Vintage Singed Rare Ledo Polcini Runway Rhinestone Swirl Brooch Pin Jewelry. This type of jewelry is rare and highly collectible. This is a beautiful vintage signed Ledo (Polcini) swirl brooch measuring 2 inches wide by 2 inches high. This type of jewelry is rare and highly collectible. A little about these pieces from the book, Costume Jewelry by Fred Rezazadeh: "Polcini is a trademark used since about 1960, but the manufacturer's history can be traced back to the early 1900s when an accomplished Italian master jeweler, Ralph Polcini, emigrated to the US and founded a small company in New York to manufacture costume jewelry. The original name of the company was Leading Jewelry, but after WWII, the company name was changed to Ledo. After Ralph's death in 1954, his son Damon Polcini assumed the leadership of the firm and the name was changed to Polcini. Damon Polcini died in the mid 1980s, but the company continued its operations on a smaller scale. The Polcini trademark is apparently unregistered in the Jeweler's Circular. Polcini jewelry is of high quality and relatively scarce. Most of the jewelry combines excellent metalwork with high quality rhinestones in traditional and classic designs. Ledo jewelry is even more scarce and a find prized by any collector." This brooch is from a smoke free home.
