Markings: Printed: Furnivals, Ltd England Nile Rd No 404946. Look at those sinuous vines and the vibrant yellow flowers, clearly derived from the works of such masters as Hector Guimard and Louis Majorelle. Furnivals Ltd. Ars Nouveau Hot Water Jug “Nile” 8 ½” 1902 - 1903 Dimensions: 8 ½” Tall 5 ½”Wide including Handle Condition: Very Good, no visible cracks or chips Markings: Printed: Furnivals, Ltd England Nile Rd No 404946 Impressed: Rd No 4023308 There are two registration numbers here, the printed one from 1903 and the Impressed one, as best as I can tell, from 1902. Not that the date matters as it is an outstanding example of the Ars Nouveau style, introduced by Bing in Paris in 1901. Look at those sinuous vines and the vibrant yellow flowers, clearly derived from the works of such masters as Hector Guimard and Louis Majorelle. This pattern came in several colors, this one is most preferred as it is a clean and crisp image, many of the others are blurred. The design carries into the inner edge of this super clean jug. Any serious Ars Nouveau collector is going to want this piece. It will go fast.
